Hungry Children from Disaster-Stricken Areas

What you save from fasting, you can donate to Hapag-Asa to feed hungry children from disaster-stricken areas

Considering the numerous disasters that hit the country in the previous year, it becomes necessary to provide adequate and nutritious foods to children who were the most vulnerable during those times. As the United Nations had warned, about 1.5 million children in typhoon-affected areas in the country are at risk of acute malnutrition.

To help these children and as an act of solidarity with our brother and sisters, the Pondo ng Pinoy is re-launching the FAST2FEED fund campaign to raise funds for the HAPAG-ASA’s integrated feeding program not only for the children in the Pondo ng Pinoy-member dioceses who are experiencing hunger and malnutrition right now, but also for those in the areas affected by the Typhoon Yolanda, earthquake and siege. HAPAG-ASA, in partnership with the concerned dioceses, will intensify the feeding activities in those areas, using the FAST2FEED proceeds.

The FAST2FEED Fund Campaign started in 2007 and is being participated in by parishes under the Pondo ng Pinoy-member dioceses. The campaign encourages the lay faithful to share and donate to HAPAG-ASA whatever amount they will save from their fasting on Ash Wednesday.

For this year’s Ash Wednesday on March 5, 2014, His Eminence Cardinal Luis Antonio G. Tagle, Chairman of Pondo ng Pinoy, has issued his Pastoral Letter for the Archdiocese of Manila.

The Catholic Education Association of the Philippines (CEAP) also endorsed the FAST2FEED fund campaign to their respective school members.(For a copy of your respective diocese’s Pastoral Letter and the CEAP endorsement letter, please click below:)
